Meet the Meteors

Ron Miller has been a contributor to the Chicagoland music scene since 1964. Ron was the founder, and a 30-year member of the very popular south side oldies band "Now & Then", performing as a main stage opening act for many of the Headliners from the 50's & 60's at many of the local area festivals. His unique wide range vocal ability allows him to cover teen idol's like "Paul Anka" and then capture "John Lennons" grit with precision accuracy. Ron's keen ability to provide every sound imaginable on the keyboards, including: violins, brass, piano, organ, chimes, and the many different sounds that were used in a recording, allow The Meteors to cover a wide variety of songs from the 50's and 60's. Ron's musical background, talent, and leadership, give the Meteors a solid foundation to "Authentically" reproduce the 50's and 60's music the way it is intended to be played.

Tony Bicek began playing drums in 1956 with various bands until 1980 with his late brother Rich. In the 60's they formed a rock band that played all the popular teen clubs with the top DJ's from WLS & WCFL. In the 70's they formed a show band, playing at  several playboy clubs across the US. Tony has had the honor of playing with the "Ides of  March" and the late "James Brown". Today along with the other Meteors, Tony  continues to drive the beat of many of the classic oldies. He not only plays the drums, but his high falsetto voice allows The Meteors to cover  groups like the "Tokens" and "Four Seasons". With a slammin' back beat, Tony provides the punch to make every song a  knockout ! . . . .

Greg Favata has been playing guitar and singing for decades on the Chicagoland music scene. After a nearly 20 year run playing weddings and corporate gigs at virtually every major venue in the city with Pursuit (later Greg Favata Orchestra), Greg helped found The Renditions, a 60’s and 70’s group, who enjoyed a successful 8 year run. Greg then joined legendary Chicago rock pioneers, The New Colony Six in 2010, performing such hits as “I Will Always Think About You” and “Things I’d Like to Say”. Greg has opened for acts such as The Ides of March, Davy Jones, and Paul Revere and The Raiders. Having written and recorded several jingles which received extensive airplay on Scott Mackay’s morning show on 95.9 FM The River, Greg also recently wrote, recorded, and produced his first all original CD album, entitled “My Distant Land” which can be purchased at Amazon and I-Tunes. The Meteors welcome Greg to an already exceptional lineup of musicians.

Ken Gooday is the quiet member of The Meteors - Ken plays 4 string Bass Guitar with vocals. He has been performing at local Festivals and Corporate Events in various Chicago area bands since 1967 – Most notably with the very popular south side Oldies Rock & Roll Band “Now & Then”. His melodic Bass lines, precision timing, and attention to detail, are constant reminders of how proficient Ken is as a Bass Guitarist. It’s easy to understand why his music sounds so authentic – He has been playing this Genre of music for most of his musical career.

Joe Garcia  is the newest member of The Meteors. His “authentic” left handed Lead / Rhythm, & 12 String guitar skills have been enjoyed on the music scene since he started playing back in 1976. Since then, he has also proficiently mastered Bass Guitar, and Drums. His attention to detail (musically and vocally) and accurate live reproductions, have made him an excellent choice for The Meteors. Joe has plenty of experience with the 60's music genre. He also currently performs with (“The New Invaders”, and “The Niche” .) Joe has thrilled the audience for over 40 years, performing at “Park Concerts”, “Festivals”, “Corporate Events” and countless other live venues . . . His love for the British Invasion bands (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zombies, etc) is immediately recognised when he is performing. You can always count on a Stellar performance when Joe joins us on stage!
